Leaf, twig, and debris accumulation at valley intersections can create localized moisture pools. In Dothan's 58.5" annual rainfall, standing water at valleys accelerates the degradation of sealant at penetration flashings. Clear valleys after fall leaf season and after major storm events.

Trim Overhanging Tree Limbs
Tree limbs within 6 feet of the metal surface deposit organic material (tannins, sap) that can stain Galvalume panels over time and accelerate surface oxidation on the margins. More urgently, storm-broken limbs can physically damage seams or flashings.

Clean Panel Surface (Optional)
Galvalume standing seam is self-cleaning in most Dothan rainfall conditions — rain water sheeting off the steep panel surface carries surface dirt effectively. Optional low-pressure washing (garden hose, no pressure washer) maintains appearance. No chemical cleaning agents required or recommended.

Inspect Penetration Flashings
The only maintenance-relevant components on a MAC Construction standing seam installation are the penetration flashings — pipe boots, HVAC curbs, skylight frames, and chimney flashing seals. Inspect the sealant bead at these locations annually and after major Gulf storm events. Re-seal if any cracking or separation is visible.

Inspect Exposed Fasteners at Perimeter
While MAC Construction installs concealed-fastener standing seam, perimeter trim elements (drip edge, fascia trim, and ridge cap) may use exposed fasteners at edges. Inspect these visible fasteners annually — particularly at ridge cap and rake trim — for backing-out or sealant failure.

After any Dothan tropical storm event (sustained winds 50+ MPH), a brief visual inspection from ground level or from a safe ladder position is recommended. Look for: displaced ridge cap sections, debris impact marks on panel faces, any visible seam disturbance, and gutter system integrity.
